1. Effort Group Perfect Wins Silver Presidential Prize in National Quality Management Competition

SsangYong was honored with the silver presidential prize in the awarding ceremony of the 31st national quality management competition held in the Grand Ballroom of KOEX in last December 7. The national quality management competition is held to find out and honor excellent employees and companies taking the lead in quality management efforts. The effort group, "Perfect" received their silver prize and commented that day, "Individuals in our group are so good, but what is more important to us is our teamwork." They added that the quality that SsangYong is proud of is the fruit of the efforts of all employees with the aspiration for perfection and sense of responsibility. In this year, 2006, we anticipate movements of excellent quality innovation from our employees on the site.


2. Ceremony for Awarding and Interviewing Employees to Retire in 2006

On the 23rd day of last December, a retirement ceremony was held in the Grand Conference Hall of the main building for those employees retiring due to age limit, who had been with the company through thin and thick, in the presence of executives including a CEO Choi Hyung-tak. During the interview, these retiring employees expressed their concern for our company's low results due to bad local economy and asked their remaining colleagues "to overcome difficulties, recalling our worst times in the past so that everyone including a CEO Choi will continue working until their retirement and can meet again with smiling faces." Responding to this, a CEO Choi Hyung-tak promised "to try to create legendary products based on peaceful work environment by emulating the senior employees" and asked the retiree to remember always that they would still be part of the company in the future and to try to support and love the company for further development.


3. Opening Ceremony for 2006

SsangYong held an opening ceremony for 2006 on January 3rd and 4th in Pyeongtaek and Changwon Plants to refresh the resolution for the new year.

A CEO Choi Hyung-tak said in his New Year Address, "Last year, we all have cooperated each other to improve our local sales and maintenance network and overseas markets and continued to strengthen our core abilities including new engine development and new project implementation. Our efforts have resulted in successful releases of the Kyron and the Actyon and best export results ever." He then emphasized that this year calls for more changes on our part and we need to join our forces together.

Although this year expects gradual recovery of economy, visible results will come after some time and other overseas factors are threatening us. At the same time, this year has many potentials and all employees should challenge the tasks for this year so that we can achieve our goals for this year. At this ceremony, employees with excellent results, good suggestions and excellent teams of 2005 were also awarded prizes and citations.


4. Opening Ceremony for 2006 for Heads of Dealer Shops and Maintenance Shops

SsangYong held an opening ceremony for 2006 for 300 heads of dealer shops and maintenance shops on January 6 in Shilla Hotel in Seoul , in the presence of a CEO Choi Hyung-tak, Vice President and Planning Division Head, ZhuXian and other executives from the company.

That day, there was a presentation on business plan for 2006 and awarding ceremony for dealers with excellent results. Also, there was a resolution for achieving goals for 2006 and declaration for fair trade. In his address, a CEO Choi Hyung-tak praised dealer and maintenance shops who had endeavored so much even in difficult economy last year and emphasized the need for further innovation this year in order to maximize sales and profits by improving service and keeping pace with the globalization trend.


5. Exemplary Salespersons and Jeju Dealer Shop Workshop and Training

SsangYong's sales meisters, "Come together in Jeju."

SsangYong invited 40 sales 'meisters' for "The Day for Sales Meisters" on December 18 in Jeju.

This day, 24 the most excellent salespersons and 10 excellent salespersons for 2005 were present. These salespersons are the meisters of selling who sell over 120 units every year, 10 units on average every month.

Since 2004, SsangYong has operated "Sales Meisters" system and produced 45 sales meisters until now, including one 1st class sales meisters who has sold 1,000 units, four 2nd class sales meisters who have sold 500 units and forty 3rd class meisters who have sold 300 units.

Sales meisters have thus increased because SsangYong has enlarged its sales network since 2001 up to 250 dealer shops as of now so that the local sales network is now completely normalized.


6. New Rexton Wins "Best SUV 2005" Award in Malaysia Again

New Rexton won again the best SUV 2005 in SUV category in 'Car of the Year Awards' sponsored by NST (New Straits Times), a prestigious media in Malaysia and Mastercard, defeating Toyota, Nissan, Ford, Land Rover, etc. It is the second year that New Rexton has been chosen as the best SUV, and is the first to win this award for two consecutive years. New Rexton mounted with the common rail DI engine has been popular in the Malaysia market, where there is an increasing demand due to increase of domestic income. Since its major exporters are praised overseas for their styles and performance and sell successfully, SsangYong is planning to proceed with various local marketing
efforts in 2006 so that they will have the position of the best SUV in the world market.

With New Rexton as the best SUV, the best premium sedan was Mercedez Benz CLS350, best limousine, BMW 749LI and MPV, Honda Odyssey.
